Coordinator's Message

A Message From the Coordinator

A man in a suit smiles directly at the camera.Hello Early Childhood Center (ECC) students, families, staff, and community members, and welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!  My name is John Siegler, and I am excited and honored to be the coordinator over the Early Childhood Center this school year. Our theme for this school year is Building Learners, and I am so excited to watch, help, and support your child(ren) as they build on their learning throughout the school year. At the ECC, we believe in nurturing each child's individual growth through meaningful, hands-on play. Our goal is to create a predictable and supportive environment where children feel comfortable exploring their curiosity and developing crucial social, emotional, and communication skills. We are incredibly excited to be constructing a new Early Childhood Center this school year, and some of our work this school year will be focused on preparing to move into our new facility for the 2026-2027 school year.

I began my career in education over twenty years ago as a special education teacher at the elementary level in a school district in the western suburbs.  After teaching for about eight years, I left the classroom to train and work with teachers in a coaching role.  I have been in administration for twelve years and have been an assistant director of special education, a special services supervisor, and an assistant principal in other districts.  This is my fourth school year as a coordinator in Skokie School District 68. My previous duties in the student services department included overseeing the school social work department, 504 plans, assessment accommodations on state assessments, and the District’s self-contained, special education program at the elementary level called RISE.

I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Special Education from Eastern Illinois University, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Aurora University.  In addition to these two degrees, I have taken several graduate courses to obtain my general administrative and director of special education endorsements. I am excited to partner with you and your family this year to help your child become a competent, lifelong learner.  Please get involved, stay informed and connected, and reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!

Sincerely,

John Siegler
