No School Tomorrow

Due to the expected weather conditions and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students and staff, all District 68 schools will be closed on Friday, January 23, 2026, for a traditional Snow Day.

There will be no in-person classes or E-Learning tomorrow, Friday, January 23, 2026.

While not currently predicted, if continued extreme weather exists into Monday, January 26, 2026, the District would close schools for an E-Learning Day, during which students would learn remotely from home.

In preparation for this unlikely scenario, we sent home a Ziploc bag full of materials today in the event of an E-Learning Day on Monday. Please open the bag of materials only if the District closes school for an E-Learning Day.  If the District closes schools for an E-Learning Day, your child's teacher will send a message with instructions about what to do with the materials on the E-Learning Day or the day before the E-Learning Day. If the District does NOT close school for an E-Learning Day on Monday, January 26, please save the bag of materials for a future E-Learning Day this winter and do NOT open the bag.

Shape Tomorrow, Today — We Want to Hear from You!

Skokie School District 68 is developing a new Strategic Plan and invites your input.

Survey
All community members within the Skokie 68 boundary are encouraged to complete the survey by Wednesday, January 28, 2026 (click here.)

Focus Groups
In order to maximize input from our community, additional Focus Groups have been added in a virtual format through Google Meet, facilitated by Dr. Reggie Todd of Studer Education, the District’s strategic planning partner.

Strategic planning is a process that helps an organization decide its future direction, goals, and use of time and resources.

The purpose of these focus groups is to share your honest experiences and feedback about the strengths and areas of growth in District 68 in an anonymous setting.

Virtual Parent Focus Group - Mon., Jan. 26 at 6pm.

Thank you for sharing your voice!

Dress for the Weather

It is winter in Skokie. Please be sure to dress your child appropriately for the conditions. We will continue to go outside for gross motor activities, weather permitting.

To help your child stay comfortable and safe outdoors, please send them to school with:

  • A warm jacket or coat
  • Hat and gloves/mittens
  • Extra layers for colder mornings

If your child has a set of extra clothes at the ECC, please send us a pair of pants, a long-sleeve shirt, and socks.

Please also make sure to label all clothing and personal items with your child’s name to help prevent them from getting lost or mixed up with others.

Car Seats

Please have your child in the right car seat for your child's age, height, and weight in your vehicle when you drop-off or pick-up your child from school.

The Child Passenger Protection Act requires that all children under age 8 be properly secured in an appropriate child safety restraint system.

Children ages 2 to 4 should remain in a rear-facing safety seat for as long as possible, or until they are at the upper height or weight limit of the seat. When a child out- grows a rear-facing safety seat, he or she may transition to a forward-facing seat with a harness system.

Children ages 4-8 should be secured in a forward-facing safety seat with an internal harness system until they reach the upper height or weight limit allowed by the car seat manufacturer. When a child outgrows the forward-facing seat, he or she may transition to a belt-positioning booster seat.

For more information about child passenger safety requirements, please click HERE.

If you need help obtaining the appropriate car seat for your child(ren), please contact your child's teacher, and our team will work to connect you with resources that can help.

Vehicle Hang Tag Reminder and Replacement
As we welcome a new faculty member to our team, we kindly request that you display your current vehicle hang tag in your car for identification purposes.

If you require a replacement hang tag, please contact the main office, and we will be happy to provide one for you. Thank you for your cooperation.

Snack Information

Your child will receive a nutritious snack daily at preschool. Snacks typically include a whole grain, a fresh fruit, and milk. Click on the January Snack Menu to find out more.
